Outrage in a Nudist Town
Just how far is too far in a nudist community? This is the question on the minds of many this week in the town of Cap d’Agde, otherwise known as France’s “Naked City” where differing opinions on decency have sparked a culture war amongst the locals.
Apparently a group of overzealous exhibitionists called “the libertines” have been walking around partaking in some fairly risqué behavior. Some have complained that the nudist quarter has been become infested with “raunchy hotels” and couples engaging in lurid sexual acts in public – sometimes in the presence of children. Perhaps an even larger point of contention amongst the more traditional nudist is the upsurge of occurrences in which fully clothed people are seen walking around and mocking the nudists as they stand flapping in the breeze – so to speak.
So now the two factions are at war with one another and this isn’t exactly a new problem. Two years ago the influx of swingers led to two arson attacks on hotels that were hosting libertine parties. Ultimately the real fear amongst the locals is that these free-wheeling libertines will bring their wild sexcapades into the non-nudist parts of Cap d’Agde.
“When the sun shines, there is an area of Cap d’Agde which turns into the European capital of free sex” warned independent local councilor Florence Denestebe at a recent council meeting. In the meantime one purist was heard on record saying that although they had come to Cap d’Agde to lead “a natural life” they feel they’ve now ended up living “surrounded by wild animals.”
The more conservative nudists in the community have already called for the mayor to intervene but the mayor insists that he’s already done all that he could to keep the warring factions apart.
