An Applebee’s restaurant in Michigan is being sued for accidentally serving a toddler alcohol. According to the restaurant chain, the 15-month-old was served a margarita mix containing alcohol from a bottle mislabeled “apple juice”. The parents of the toddler, 18, who are too young to drink themselves, noticed their son acting strange during their family dinner. The mother of the baby boy claimed “he was saying ‘hi’ and ‘bye’ to the walls” and laid his head down like he was sleepy, then woke up and got really hyper. After his father took a sip of his drink, he was shocked at what he tasted. The toddler was rushed to the hospital where his blood alcohol content level was measured at 0.10. His mother claimed the hospital told them, the child may have died if he drank the entire bottle.

Except for maybe Charlie Sheen, this is unacceptable to any parent. Even though, it is a very unfortunate accident, it is devastating to watch your child go through this ordeal due to the carelessness of the employees of a restaurant. The parents of Dominic Wilson Jr. are suing Applebee’s for the sum of 25 thousand dollars in damages. It is also important to note that Applebee’s is now re-training its employees, in order to keep something similar from happening ever again.

In conclusion, we learn more and more everyday that in this society, we can’t be too careful, specially when it comes to our families. It never hurts to taste the food or drink your little one is about to consume. It is a very minimal effort to make before your child digs into something that can be potentially poisonous. Kings and queens have this luxury with every meal, so why can’t we treat the kings and queens of our homes in the same manner?
